Because Jesus still calls… and we still follow.
Jesus never invited anyone to become a spectator—He called us to follow Him. To become disciples. And then to become disciple makers. There is no greater honour or higher calling than to walk with Jesus and help others do the same.
Someone once said it beautifully: “We are never more than disciples, and never less than sons.”
His first call is to be a disciple. His final commission is to make disciples. And His enduring promise is this: “If you make disciples, I will be with you to the very end.”
From the very beginning, this was God’s heart. His covenant with Abraham was never only about one man— but about all nations being blessed through a transformed life.
In essence God says: “I want to do something so remarkable in you, that it transforms others through you.”That is the heartbeat of discipleship.
Not the great suggestion—the Great Commission.
Jesus commits to build a prevailing Church but commissioned us to make disciples.
Too often we try to build the church, while neglecting our responsibility to make disciples.
Jesus needs us to make disciples, so He can build a prevailing Church. He can’t build a strong church if we offer Him weak people.
Each One, Reach One, Teach One
Every Believer a Disciple. Every Disciple a Disciple Maker.
Discipleship is not just the call of pastors or evangelists. Every believer is called to reproduce. When we don’t, we suffer from spiritual infertility.
www.christiangrowthtrack.co.za offers you the means and method to be a disciple of Jesus and make disciples of those around you.
We indeed need all sorts of believers to become disciples if we are to “make disciples of all nations…”
There are some people in your world that would never follow Jesus unless someone with your unique personality, style, gifts, and relational approach invites them to follow Jesus and become disciples. They may never read the Bible or attend church, until they read the Bible in your life and encounter “church” through you.
Jesus really needs you today. He calls you to become a disciple and to make disciples “as you go” about your life. So, Jesus really calls Each One to Reach One, and Teach One.
Brilliant question!
Church leaders have wrestled with the answer for most of the past 2000 years, and so should we.
If it is our greatest co-mission with Jesus, and if He will hold us accountable for doing it – then we need to ensure we know the what, how, why and who of making disciples. We hope to answer these questions and more.
The word means to be a learner, or follower of Jesus, in the New Testament.
But how does a disciple look in the 21st Century? When do we know we are disciples—and have made other disciples? What is the trademarks of a disciple?
After countless brainstorms with various Christian leaders and pastors, we have developed a Maturity Measurement Matrix, that helps us measure oneself on the Biblical criteria of maturity. Click this button do complete your own online assessment on the Maturity Measurement Matrix.
To simplify it: A disciple is a believer who grows in Faith, Victory and their life Purpose.
A disciple is someone who is equipped to fulfil their God-given purpose on earth.
This equipping requires that we constantly grow in faith in key areas of kingdom life, to obtain victory in those areas, which will enable us to fulfil our purpose.
Defeat in any key area of life guarantees failure in purpose. Emotional, relational, financial, or defeat in one’s physical health can hi-jack your life purpose. Insecurity, fear, demonic bondage, or an addiction would rob you of your purpose. The same applies to each of the key areas of life.
So, a disciple grows in faith, victory, and purpose.
In the Gospels, Jesus discipled people in seven circles, each with a unique approach. His Seven Circles of Discipleship included
- Reaching Cities to Show God’s love and goodness,
- Preaching to Save the Crowds,
- Teaching to Shape His Congregation of 500+ people,
- Training His Critical mass (of 70-120 volunteers) to Serve,
- Coaching His Core to be Sent (12 Apostles = sent ones),
- Mentoring the 3 for Succession (Peter, James and John), and finally
- Fathering the One into Sonship (Peter became rock-solid through a revelation of the Fatherhood of God).

Each of the seven circles brought a unique revelation of a dimension of Jesus, and produced a unique type of transformation.
This seven circles forms a practical relational framework for discipleship. It guides pastors, leaders, and believers to engage people according to:
Call – Commitment – Character – Competence – Chemistry
Not everyone will be mentored personally by a senior leader—and that’s okay. But everyone should be discipled by someone.
The Seven Circles of Discipleship make this possible, scalable, and sustainable in any context—from mega churches to rural congregations.
The speed of growth depends on the same factors. Some are content to stay at a congregational level and be taught for most their lives, unless they’re invited and challenged to be trained for service. This would awaken their spiritual life to purposeful service.
Tested Over 21 Years
Across diverse churches, we have seen each circle bring a unique manifestation of the revelation of Jesus in people’s lives—just like it did in the Gospels.
There are one-on-one moments where the fatherhood of God reveals Who Jesus is, shifting our identity from a swaying reed to a solid rock.
- The three experienced encounters others never did. His travailing prayer in the Garden and the Mount of Transfiguration.
- The twelve stepped into supernatural assignments—like crossing stormy seas to bring freedom to the region of Decapolis.
- The 120 served a purpose and saw demons and diseases bow to the name of Jesus, who “saw Satan fall like lightning” through these disciple’s service.
- On one occasion Jesus taught and discerned that God’s power to heal was present. The unique revelation taught unlock a manifestation of Who he is as Healer.
- He preached to a crowd and miraculously multiplied five loafs of bread and two fish to feed the multitude. It wouldn’t really be that much of a miracle if he only fed the three or twelve with five loafs.
- Then Jesus came with express purpose of reaching communities and cities with the Good News of the Gospel. As He reached these cities, He manifested the Father as being all-love, all-wise, all-powerful, and the only Creator God.
Each circle carries its own purpose—and discipleship becomes powerful when people are invited, challenged, and equipped at the right level.
This approached has been tested over 21 years in all sorts of churches and settings — from mega city churches to tight-knit community churches, to rural congregations, and township churches.
The church may look different, but the commission remains the same!
